What a pleasant surprise we get when visiting the Kelpies or The Kelpies in Scotland. Gigantic horse heads built in steel over 30 meters high and visible from the highway connecting Edinburgh with Stirling. Although to be honest we did not find them by chance, our step was calculated after the visit of a couple of castles.

The truth is that its construction is relatively recent, from the end of 2013. They have been in the park called The helix, in the locality of Falkirk and represent the power of the Scottish industry. A fantastic idea given that tourism in the city ofFalkirk It was very scarce and with this great idea you step on the brake and take the first exit to see them.

Our visit to The Kelpies in Scotland

After a visit to the castles of Stirling and Campbell we headed to our accommodation in Edinburgh. As we still had more than 3 hours of light we decided to take advantage of them by checking our plan itinerary B. In it were the Kelpies that also caught us completely passing through.

The Kelpies in Scotland

We take exit 6 on the highway M9 in Falkirk and from there we headed to the park The helix where there is a football stadium and a small lake. At the end of this is The Kelpies right in the last parking lot whose cost is 3 pounds. If you go with time, there is a free parking 500 meters before but with less capacity than this.

From the last parking lot and following the canal, the horses can be reached immediately, although we would see them from afar, they are unmistakable. They sit above the canal a few meters from its junction with the Carron River. Right there is a small bar and a few benches where you can sit and admire such beauty.

You can touch, go under, give them a thousand turns, we go what you want as long as you do not damage them. And just by getting at your feet denotes how great they are and the effort it took to mount such infrastructure.
